The Butler Institute of American Art, on Wick Avenue in Youngtown, presents the exhibit George Washington: The Myths and the Man, from Sunday, February 18th to Sunday, May 12th. This traveling exhibition comes to the Butler from the Virginia Museum of History and Culture and will be displayed in the MacIntosh Gallery. More information is available at butlerart.com.

The Emerging Artists of Opera Western Reserve presents the children’s opera The Bremen Town Musicians, in the Ford Family Recital Hall, at the DeYor Performing Arts Center, in downtown Youngstown, on Sunday, May 5th at 2 pm. Members of the Youngstown Press Club will observe World Press Freedom Day by reading the names of 99 journalists killed during the past year while practicing their profession, on Friday, May 3rd, at Noon, in the Mahoning County Courthouse Rotunda. The featured speaker will be Judge Theresa Dellick of Mahoning County Juvenile Court. The event is free and open to the public.
